Current Phase: Finalists Announced & Round 2 Begins

We announced our finalist lists on January 1. Round 2 judges are now reading the finalists in their cateagory and will begin the process of choosing a winner soon. Winners are announced on February 14, 2025.

Round 1 judges did not make this task easy. Round 2 judges have to pick a winner from some amazing books.

The CYBILS AWARDS seeks to elevate the best books for children and young adults, expanding their audience and improving childhood literacy by helping to identify books that will encourage a love of reading in children and teens, and ensuring a diverse and equitable appreciation of literature through inclusivity.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Cybils Awards is committed to mindful inclusivity in its book selection process. To this end, the Cybils Awards Board

Published its Inclusivity Goals and Guidelines document to demonstrate its transparency; and
Requires diversity and cultural sensitivity training for all panelists to ensure critical engagement with books nominated for its awards.

Our Reporting Form offers the public a means to report books that are incompatible with these values for reasons that include blatant racism, sexism, and other hate-filled perspectives, with or without attribution. Learn more here.
